What this theme is, and the shortest path from an empty shop to a restaurant website you are happy to send people to.
Restrovics is a Shopify theme built for restaurants. It is not a clothes
shop with food photos in it — the whole thing is arranged the way a menu is,
so a hungry person can read what you cook, see what is in it, and either
order it or book a table.
You do not need to know anything about code. Everything in this guide is
done by clicking and typing in Shopify.
The words Shopify uses, and what they mean for you #
Shopify was built for shops, so it uses shop words. Here is the
translation, once, and then we will mostly use your words.
| Shopify calls it | For you it is | For example |
|---|---|---|
| Collection | A course | Starters, Main courses, Desserts, Drinks |
| Product | A dish or a drink | Truffle arancini |
| Variant | A size or a portion | Regular, Large |
| Tag | A dietary mark | vegan, spicy, gluten-free |
Good to know
You can use this theme even if you do not sell food online. Turn the
Add to cart buttons off and your menu becomes something to read
rather than something to order from. Everything else — bookings, your
story, your chefs, your hours — works exactly the same.
The shortest path #
If you do these six things in this order, you will have a finished site.
Each one is a chapter in this guide.
Put the theme on your shop and make it yours. Logo, colours, fonts. About half an hour.
Make your courses. Four or five of them, in the order you would print them.
Add your dishes. This is the long part, and it is worth doing slowly. A good photograph and one honest line of description sells more than anything else on the page.
Create your pages. About, chefs, contact, FAQ and the booking page are already designed — you just make them exist.
Arrange your home page. Drag the bands into the order that suits your restaurant.
Turn on bookings and check the whole thing on your phone.
