In Reservics, you get your deposit back if you cancel within the restaurant’s refund window. Each restaurant sets its own policy. The window is a number of minutes before your reservation start time. Cancel at least that far in advance and the refund is issued automatically through Shopify, back to your original payment method. Cancel too late and the deposit may be kept.
Why was I charged a deposit? #
Some restaurants ask for a deposit to hold your table and to cut down on no-shows. The deposit is set by the restaurant, not by Reservics. It can be a flat fee for the whole booking, or an amount charged per guest based on your party size. The currency matches the restaurant’s Shopify store.
You only pay a deposit if that specific restaurant requires one. Many bookings need no payment at all.
How payment works #
When a deposit is required, Reservics sends you to Shopify Checkout to pay. This is the same secure checkout used to buy products on that store. Your booking is held as Pending until payment clears. Once your payment goes through, the booking is Confirmed and you receive a confirmation email.
Reservics never sees or stores your card details. All card handling stays inside Shopify Checkout.
How to get your deposit back #
The fastest way to request a refund is to cancel your booking yourself, using the link in your confirmation email.
The fastest way to request a refund is to cancel your booking yourself, using the link in your confirmation email.
Open the confirmation email Reservics sent you when you booked.
Select the “Manage your booking” link. The link uses a secure token, so you do not need to log in or create an account.
Review your booking details on the page that opens.
Select cancel to release your table.
If you cancel within the restaurant’s refund window, the refund is issued automatically through Shopify.
If you are outside the refund window, contact the restaurant directly. Staff can still cancel and refund from their side if they choose to.
Refund window: what the policy can be #
Each restaurant chooses one of these refund settings for its location. The exact value is up to that restaurant.
| Restaurant setting | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Default (no limit set) | Always refundable. Cancel any time before your reservation and your deposit comes back. |
| 0 minutes (“no refunds”) | The deposit is non-refundable once paid. |
| A set number of minutes before start | Refundable only if you cancel at least that many minutes before your reservation start time. Cancel later and the deposit may be kept. |
A no-show fee may also apply at some restaurants if you do not show up. Check the restaurant’s policy shown at booking time.
Frequently asked questions #
Do I always get my deposit back if I cancel? #
Not always. You get it back if you cancel within the restaurant’s refund window. If the restaurant set the deposit as non-refundable, or if you cancel after the window closes, the deposit may be kept. The exact policy is set by each restaurant.
How long does the refund take to appear? #
When you cancel inside the refund window, Reservics issues the refund automatically through Shopify back to your original payment method. The time it takes to show on your statement depends on your bank or card provider, not on the restaurant.
Why was I charged a deposit for my reservation? #
The restaurant chose to require a deposit to hold your table and reduce no-shows. It can be a flat fee or an amount per guest. You are only charged if that restaurant requires a deposit, and you pay it through Shopify Checkout.
I missed the refund window. Can I still get a refund? #
You cannot self-cancel for a refund after the window closes. However, restaurant staff can still cancel and refund your booking from their admin if they decide to. Contact the restaurant directly to ask.
Is my payment secure? #
Yes. All deposit payments are handled inside Shopify Checkout, the same secure checkout the store uses for product sales. Reservics does not see or store your card details.
